Eight person nabbed for illegal drugs in Bacolod City

Eight persons, including a minor girl, were nabbed for drugs in Bacolod City, Tuesday and yesterday.
A sachet of suspected shabu and drugs paraphernalia were seized from a man who was served an arrest warrant for carnapping charges in Purok San Miguel, Barangay Sum-ag in Bacolod City, at about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Police Station 9 personnel served the arrest warrant on EdilbertoGelisanga Jr., 33, of the barangay, a police report said.

Recovered from Gelisanga were a small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu, an improvised tooter with traces of suspected shabu, two disposable lighters, and a black pouch, police records show.

Gelisanga is now detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 9 and he may face additional charges for possession of drugs and paraphernalia, the police added.

Meanwhile, two men, who were allegedly transacting prohibited drugs, were nabbed in PurokCereza 2, Barangay 27 in Bacolod, at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Arrested were Anthony Garote, 43, of Barangay 27, and Ernesto Herrera, 38, of Barangay Poblacion in Bago City, Negros Occidental, the police said.

Police Station 4 operatives were conducting anti-gambling operation when they saw Garote giving the sachet of suspected shabu to Herrera at a well-lighted pathwalk of the purok, the police said.
A medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu was confiscated from Garote, police records show.

Garote and Herrera are now detained at the custodial facility of Station 4 and charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being readied against them, the police said.
Meanwhile, four persons were caught allegedly engaging in a pot session in Purok Gonzaga, Barangay Taculing in Bacolod, at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The police identified those arrested as Melvin Bihag, 22, of Barangay Vista Alegre, Ariel Siazon, 43, of Barangay Estefania in Bacolod, Ronnie Gulmatico, 21, of Barangay Taculing, and a girl, 16, whose name the DAILY STAR withheld for being a minor.

Station 6 policemen were conducting monitoring operations when they caught the suspects sniffing suspected shabu, the police said.

The arrest of the suspects yielded several drugs paraphernalia and empty plastic sachets with traces of suspected shabu, police records show.

Bihag, Siazon and Gulmatico were detained at Station 6 cell while the minor was endorsed to the Social Development Center.

Two sachets of suspected shabu and a disposable lighter were allegedly recovered from a man who was playing “cara y cruz” in PurokSigay, Barangay 2 in Bacolod, at about 5 a.m. yesterday.
RaymundApellido, 24, of Barangay 3 in Bacolod, was nabbed by members of Police Station 2, records show.

The police said Apellido is now detained at the custodial facility of Station 2.*
